This graphite and pen drawing, Bog Person of Home Depot (Peat Cutter’s Stowaway), is intended for those with simultaneous interests in archaeology and gardening. Inspired by the a Smithsonian article about the Tollund Man and my passion for gardening, this little drawing features a long mummified body quietly nestled in a package of peat moss, a peaceful memento mori among such vibrant growth and the mundane commercialization of living things. Plants featured are Home Depot’s usual suspects: rhododendrons, tomato plants, flats of pansies, and an citrus topiary tree.
